Job Description

Wage:

$24.00 per hour (full-time position)

 

Location of Work:

Various locations across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA)

 

Job Description:

  • Study plans to determine specifications and calculate requirements.
  • Read layouts and 3D drawings to design plans for kitchens, including cabinets, doors, fillers, flutes, gables, dummy doors, columns etc.
  • Design, cut and join moldings for kitchen crown moldings and valances and be able to build designer hoods for the kitchen.
  • Measure, cut, shape assemble and join wood materials.
  • Trim joints and fit parts together to form complete unit using glue and clamps and reinforce joints using nails, screws or other fasteners
  • Mark outlines or dimensions of parts on wood to cut kitchen cabinets and assemble them to form cabinets. Make holes in appropriate places for the hinges and hardware.
  • Sand wooden surfaces and apply veneer, stain or polish to finished products, as required.
  • Fit and install window trim, interior doors and trim, moldings and hardware.
  • Set up and operate carpentry equipment and woodworking machines.
  • Ensure work meets quantity and quality requirements.
  • Keep work areas clean.
  • Dismantle and take out old kitchens from customer’s home ensuring wall and floors are not scratched.
  • Helping the installers with installation of new kitchens.

 

Work Conditions:

Physically demanding; bending, crouching, kneeling; combination of sitting, standing, walking, Noisy, Dusty

 

Work Setting: Millwork/prefab shopwork

 

Job Requirements: Minimum 1 year of experience
