Company Introduction
Gaijin Izakaya, a drinking house with a menu full of shareable small dishes for snacking while drinking, specializing in ramen, robatayaki (Japanese barbecue) and share plates, with a great sake and beer list. Key Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing various ingredients such as vegetables, fish, and meats according to the recipes and standards set by cooks or head chef.
- Ensure all necessary ingredients are adequately stocked and organized in the kitchen.
- Support the kitchen staff during busy periods by helping with cooking tasks, such as grilling, frying, or boiling, under the guidance of senior chefs.
- Keep the kitchen area clean and sanitized at all times, including washing dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment. Also, ensure proper disposal of waste and maintaining cleanliness standards in food preparation areas.
- Assist in the plating and garnishing of dishes to ensure they meet the restaurant's presentation standards and are visually appealing to customers.
- Adhere to all safety and hygiene protocols, including proper handling of food, use of kitchen equipment, and maintaining personal cleanliness to prevent contamination.
- Help in organizing kitchen storage areas, including refrigerators, freezers, and dry storage, to ensure ingredients are properly labeled, stored, and rotated to maintain freshness.
- Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff members to ensure smooth operation of the kitchen and timely preparation and serving of meals, maintaining a positive and respectful working environment.
Qualifications & Skills
- High school diploma/graduation is required. Prior completion of college or other program in culinary or food safety is an asset.
- Prefer to have previous experience of working in a kitchen setting.
- Understanding and knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen operation.
- Strong detail orientation, ability to set priorities, multi-task.
- Ability to work on-call, shifts, after hours, over weekends, and on public holidays when required.
- Must be able to work and remain focused in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.
- Must be able to communicate fluently and work effectively with other staffs.
