Job Responsibilities
- Maintain a record of daily financial transactions, such as sales, expenses, and payments, using accounting software or spreadsheets.
- Regularly reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and cash registers to ensure accurate financial data.
- Keep track of inventory levels, monitor stock usage, and update records of supplies and ingredients.
- Calculate and process employee payroll, including hourly wages, tips, and deductions accurately and on time.
- Manage accounts receivable by tracking customer payments and sending invoices as needed. Handle accounts payable by ensuring bills are paid on time.
- Prepare and generate financial reports, such as profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Assist in organizing and preparing necessary documents for tax filing, including sales tax reports and employee tax forms.
- Monitor and categorize restaurant expenses, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with budgetary guidelines.
- Collaborate with management and the accounting team to provide accurate financial information and respond to any financial queries.
- Assist during financial audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations for financial transactions.
- Input financial data accurately into the accounting software, double-checking for errors and inconsistencies.
- Monitor and manage cash flow, ensuring the security and accuracy of cash transactions.
- Stay updated with relevant financial regulations and standards to ensure the restaurant's financial practices remain compliant.
Eligibility Requirements:
- A Secondary (high) school diploma or equivalent is typically required.
- Previous experience of 2 to 3 years in a bookkeeping role is valuable.
- Proficiency in using accounting software such as QuickBooks is essential for accurately recording and managing financial transactions.
- A strong aptitude for numbers and accuracy in data entry and calculations are crucial to ensure precise financial records.
- Effective organization of financial documents, invoices, and receipts is important for easy retrieval and efficient record-keeping.
- Good communication skills help in interacting with colleagues, management, vendors, and customers to address financial queries and provide insights.
- One needs to be detail-oriented to catch discrepancies, reconcile accounts, and maintain accurate financial information.
- Familiarity with tax regulations related to sales tax, payroll taxes, and other relevant tax obligations is beneficial.
- The ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines is important, especially during month-end or tax-related activities.
