Job title: Junior Sous Chef

Term of employment: Full time, Permanent

Weekly hours: 40 hours/week

Salary: $26.04/hour or $54163.20 CAD annually. In addition to base salary, position will also receive gratuities, dining allowance, uniform allowance, free parking, and extended health benefits, along with other additional perks as future incentives.

Location of Work: 2005 Highway 97 South. PG, BC V2N 7A3 and 4141-9 Airport Road PG, BC V2N 4M6

Primary Duties:

  1. Assist in review of current recipe procedures
  2. Assist in staff recipe training
  3. Assist in compliance of new recipe procedures
  4. Log and report staff attendance issues to your Executive Sous Chef
  5. Log daily fridge and freezer logs
  6. Log daily cooling logs
  7. Log daily Cooking and Holding Temp Logs
  8. Assist staff with opening and closing procedures
  9. Assist Chef with Prep List and ensure compliance
  10. Ensure that loss forms are being completed correctly
  11. Responsible for filling out an incident report during incident with committee
  12. Complete internal location transfers forms as required
  13. Assist in compliance with equipment cleaning duties
  14. Making sure compliance with food safety regulations is being upheld
  15. Assist in directing staff during service hours
  16. Assist Chef with management of supplies
  17. Assist in portion control management
  18. Assist in proper receiving, storage, and rotation of products to comply with the standards
  19. Assist Chef in duties where necessary
  20. May work on weekends/evenings

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Completion of secondary school is required
  • 5+ years of previous Sous Chef or Chef de Cuisine or similar experience in a team environment is required
  • 3+ years of previous leadership role in the kitchen, which include supervisory role of kitchen staff, performance review, recruitment, coaching is required
  • Able to perform the physical demand of a busy kitchen
  • Excellent knowledge of various cuisines and cooking techniques
  • Good English communication skills (language of work is English)
  • Passion for food & culinary excellence
