Job Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Network Administrator in our growing team at V9 Consulting Services at our Vancouver, BC office location. This is an excellent opportunity to make valuable contributions to our organization by providing technical expertise and direction on the support and development of new and existing systems, applications, and tools.

Job type: Full time & Permanent (At-least 40 hours weekly)

Wages Offered: $80,000-$90,000.    

Language: English

Start date of employment: As soon as possible

Travel: Occasional travel may be required, cost will be born by the company

Key Responsibilities:

  • Network and Fiber Installation/Troubleshooting/Optimization for existing and new projects.
  • Install and upgrade computer components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processes, and setting up private cloud for clients.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues. · Provide documentation and technical specifications to IT staff for planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT infrastructure.
  • Perform or delegate regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures.
  • Lead desktop and helpdesk support efforts, making sure all desktop applications, workstations, and related equipment problems are resolved in a timely manner with limited disruptions.
  • Responsible for capacity, storage planning, and database performance · day-to-day management of large, technically complex, and demanding client accounts, developing and executing upon an overarching technical support strategy, detailed issue tracking, root cause issue recognition and resolution.
  • Dealing with customers directly and helping them remotely or on site.
  • Directing IT Staff to help with any IT related tasks. Maintain, troubleshoot, repair and administer local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), mainframe networks, computer workstations, connections to the Internet and peripheral equipment.
    • Examine and install operating systems, software apps, networking software, and computer hardware.
    • Manage access to the usage of computer networks by operating master consoles to track system and network performance.
    • Assist network users in solving problems.
    • Maintain control records and carry out regular network startup and shutdown procedures.
    • Carry out disaster recovery and data backup procedures.
    • Carry out security and quality control procedures and tests.
    • Carry out simple scripting tasks, such as shell scripting.
    • Set up, inspect, diagnose, and update the hardware and software of Web servers.
    • Optimise server performance and install software for monitoring network traffic and security.
    • Manage and keep an eye on installed software, Web browsing, and email use.
    • Address inquiries from website designers and users for assistance and information.

Requirements:

  • Technical skills with Citrix and VMware would be considered an asset. • Exposure or understanding of principles of lean thinking.
  • Experience with coaching teams in collaborative planning.
  • Strong Interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in dealing with 3rd Party Vendors.
  • Experience in Security solutions and best practices.
  • Experience with Continuous Improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.

  • Proven ability to utilize strong interpersonal skills to deal with others effectively.
  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated excellent leadership competency to lead, motivate and coach quality assurance teams on best practices, systems, policies, procedures, and core processes.
  • Effective communication, collaboration, and social skills
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload and work under time pressures to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to exhibit tact and discretion in preparing, disclosing and handling information of a confidential and/or sensitive nature.
  • Good English (oral & written)

Education & qualifications:

  • Successful completion of a college program or bachelor’s degree in computer science/ information technology or information systems is required
