Conference and Events Manager

 

Who We Are- Keltic Lodge at the Highlands is a historic Cape Breton Resort and is located in the heart of Cape Breton Highlands National Park overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Just 2 hours from Sydney, NS and a 5 hour drive from Halifax, the resort has been welcoming guests to Cape Breton, Nova Scotia since July 1940.

 

Title of Position – Conference and Events Manager

 

Number of Vacancies- 1

 

Term - Permanent, full-time. Expected start date is as soon as possible.

 

Hours of work -  40 hours per week. Shifts may include: weekends, holidays, morning, afternoon and evenings. Overtime may be required.

 

Essential Functions-

  • Ensure hotel guests receive the highest level of service for their event
  • Ensure all function details are complete and distributed to all department heads
  • Work closely with banquet team and kitchen to ensure all requirements are delivered
  • Respond to all function and event inquiries
  • Manage all functions and events from inquiry to day of event before handing over to the banquet team.
  • Ensure billing procedures are followed
  • Communicate with Guest Services and Reservations to ensure all resort requirements are delivered.
  • Manage and develop the events team
  • Work closely with Sales Manager to develop relationships with key suppliers and clients
  • Monitor and strive for the annual budget
  • Lay out goals and objectives
  • Select, train, evaluate, lead, motivate, coach and discipline employees in your department to ensure that established cultural and core standards are met
  • Develop relationships with guests, key suppliers and industry partners

 

Wage- $60,000 - $70,000 annually, depending on expereince, plus tips

Work location- 383 Keltic in Rd, Ingonish Beach, Nova Scotia, with option for hybrid remote work schedule

 

Required Qualifications-

  • 5+ years Event/Conference management experience (preferably hotels)
  • Independent, self motivated thinker
  •  Strong administrative and organizational skills
  • Understanding and experience in purchasing, managing cost and billing
  • Ability to multitask
  • Professional English proficiency to communicate in English work environment
  • Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks.
  • Ability to stand for a long period of time and lift supply items.
