Position:          Ethnic Cook (NOC 63200)

Salary:              $19 per hour / full-time position (40 hours per week)

Job Duties:

Ÿ  Prepare a full assortment of Indian Snacks, Sweets and traditional Curries in accordance with the religious and devotional food laws and practices of the Swaminarayan denomination of the Hindu faith,

Ÿ  Ensure the food preparation areas follow religious, safety and sanitary food handling practices.

Ÿ  Consult with supervisory staff to plan menus, taking into consideration factors such as costs, special religious event needs, special fasting days and religious festivals.

Ÿ  Fully adhere and comply to Health and Safety Standards and hygiene requirements in the Kitchen facility

Ÿ  Estimate expected food consumption; then requisition or purchase supplies, or support in procurement of the raw materials

Ÿ  Work collaboratively in team environment with local volunteers and staff

Job Requirements:

Ÿ  Minimum 3 years of experience

Ÿ  Knowledgeable and understand the religious and devotional food laws and practices of the Swaminarayan denomination of the Hindu faith

Ÿ  Must be able to work co-genially and respect with other team members and volunteers

Ÿ  Must be able to multi-task and work in a team environment

Ÿ  Must be available to work afternoons, evenings and weekends
