XO Bistro is a Vietnamese restaurant in Edmonton, Alberta paying homage to homestyle Vietnamese cooking, spotlight family recipes for noodles soups, spring rolls, grilled meats, banh mi, and many other classic dishes. Currently, we are looking for a full-time Cook who is willing to join our energetic team and support the kitchen operation.

Working Location: 5021 Mullen Road, Edmonton, AB T6R 0S9

Position: Cook

Wage: $17.50 - $19.50 per hour (Depending on working experience)

Working Hours: average 30 hours per week

Terms of Employment: Full-time, Permanent

Starting Date: As soon as possible

Duties:

• Prepare and cook ingredients and individual dishes of homestyle Vietnamese food according to the recipes of XO Bistro;
• Oversee and ensure smooth kitchen operation in accordance with the standards of restaurant;
• Prepare special dishes for customers with food allergies, intolerance, or dietary restriction as needed;
• Plan new dishes on our menu, determine the serving size of the food, and estimate food costs;
• Supervise and train kitchen helpers with food preparation, food safety standards and time management to provide meals;
• Clean kitchen and work area, ensuring the work area is always sanitized and clean;
• Regularly maintain inventory and records of ingredients, essential equipment and supplies, and order supplies as needed;

Qualifications:

• Completion of secondary school is usually required;
• Completion of a three-year apprenticeship program for cooks OR, completion of college or other program in cooking or food safety OR, more than 1 + year of commercial cooking experience would be a good asset, but is not a mandatory requirement;
• Ability to work under pressure as a team player in a busy kitchen atmosphere;
• Working knowledge of English.
