Company Introduction
Gaijin Izakaya, a drinking house with a menu full of shareable small dishes for snacking while drinking, specializing in ramen, robatayaki (Japanese barbecue) and share plates, with a great sake and beer list. We offer a communal dining experience where you mingle with others while enjoying good food, good drinks, and a remarkable time.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies, stock inventory appropriately.
- Prepare food for service, including but not limit to chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces, etc.
- Cook menu items independently or in cooperation with other kitchen staff.
- Ensure that food comes out simultaneously in high quality and in a timely fashion; ensure promptness, freshness, and quality of dishes.
- Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards.
- Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers.
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure smooth operations
- Assist with hiring and training of kitchen personnel.
Qualifications & Skills
- High school diploma/graduation is required. Prior completion of college or other program in cooking or food safety is an asset.
- Minimum 1 years of proven cooking experience as a cook in a professional kitchen setting.
- Excellent understanding and knowledge of food preparation techniques and culinary terminology.
- Strong detail orientation, ability to set priorities, multi-task and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work on-call, shifts, after hours, over weekends, and on public holidays when required.
- Must be able to work and remain focused in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.
- Fluent communication skills in English.
