Company Introduction

Gaijin Izakaya, a drinking house with a menu full of shareable small dishes for snacking while drinking, specializing in ramen, robatayaki (Japanese barbecue) and share plates, with a great sake and beer list. We offer a communal dining experience where you mingle with others while enjoying good food, good drinks, and a remarkable time.

 

Key Responsibilities

  1. Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies, stock inventory appropriately.
  2. Prepare food for service, including but not limit to chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces, etc.
  3. Cook menu items independently or in cooperation with other kitchen staff.
  4. Ensure that food comes out simultaneously in high quality and in a timely fashion; ensure promptness, freshness, and quality of dishes.
  5. Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards.
  6. Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers.
  7. Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure smooth operations
  8. Assist with hiring and training of kitchen personnel.

 

Qualifications & Skills

  1. High school diploma/graduation is required. Prior completion of college or other program in cooking or food safety is an asset.
  2. Minimum 1 years of proven cooking experience as a cook in a professional kitchen setting.
  3. Excellent understanding and knowledge of food preparation techniques and culinary terminology.
  4. Strong detail orientation, ability to set priorities, multi-task and meet deadlines.
  5. Ability to work on-call, shifts, after hours, over weekends, and on public holidays when required.
  6. Must be able to work and remain focused in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.
  7. Fluent communication skills in English.

Wage & Benefits

$18.00/hour, 30 to 40 hours per week
