Job Title: Department Manager
Terms of Employment: Full-time, permanent
Language: English
Compensation: $22.00 per hour, 30 - 44 hours per week, 4% vacation pay.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performing market research on vendors and determining the products to carry based on market research;
- Maintaining professional relationships with distributors, company representatives, and co-workers;
- Maintaining excellent product knowledge in order to make appropriate recommendations for customers;
- Providing superior customer service, including answering customer inquiries on specific products based on dietary needs and lifestyle choices;
- Calculating margins to ensure maximum profitability;
- Managing store returns and customer credits;
- Implementing pricing and planning section budgets;
- Attending company and product trainings;
- Responsibility for conducting employee interviews and training new hires;
- Organizing and scheduling product demonstrations and employee training sessions;
- Resolving conflicts between employees;
- Creating and implementing monthly employee schedules;
- Communicating job expectations to team members
- Monitoring and evaluating staff performance
- Execute performance management conversations with team members within the department.
- Assist in rolling out new policies and ensure team members are compliant.
- Ensuring adherence to company and industry regulations
- Motivating and inspiring staff and facilitating personal growth.
- Ensuring high levels of productivity are maintained.
- Maintain a high level of product and service knowledge.
- Build and maintain relationships with new and returning customers.
- Receiving and processing product orders; Replace used stock, rotate current stock, and ensure satisfactory inventory levels.
- Participate in merchandising and promotional activities.
- Assist with inventory management.
- Assist with cleaning and ensure an orderly supplement department.
Job Requirements:
- Completion of secondary school required
- At least 2 years of experience in retail grocery sales, including previous supervisory experience required
- Extensive knowledge of a broad range of health food products and how they affect customers
- Previous experience providing personalized dietary advice to customers with regard to products adhering to specific diets including vegan, keto, paleo, and vegetarian
- Previous experience using a Catapult POS system, including processing orders and programming prices and sales
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Strong organizational skills
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to multitask
