SUMMARY:
As a Kitchen Helper, you will play a vital role in supporting our kitchen team. Your responsibilities include basic food preparation tasks like cooking, chopping, and peeling, as well as ensuring the kitchen stays clean and organized. You'll be involved in sanitizing utensils, dishes, and equipment and handling waste disposal. Collaborating closely with chefs and following health and safety guidelines are essential parts of the job.
We're looking for someone with a basic understanding of kitchen operations, physical stamina, and a positive attitude. As a Kitchen Helper, you contribute significantly to the smooth and efficient functioning of our kitchen.
JOB TITLE: Kitchen Helper
NUMBER OF POSITIONS: 1
JOB DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES:
• Prepare ingredients including grating, chopping, washing, and peeling
• Clean and sanitize kitchen work areas as well as storage areas, cupboards, appliances, stations, etc.
• Take out trash and clean garbage cans
• Responsible for storage of supplies in refrigerators, cupboards, and other areas
• Complete all end of day cleaning such as sweeping and mopping floors
• Support dishwashers washing dishes, cleaning and polishing silverware and scouring pots, pans, and cooking vessels
• Provide all other necessary support to kitchen staff
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:
• Completion of secondary school is required
• On the job training will be provided
• Ability to communicate in English
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES:

• Standing for extended periods

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Permanent Full-time, Long-term.
WAGES: $17 per hour
HOURS OF WORK: 40 hours per week
OVERTIME: One and one-half times the regular wage rate as per provincial regulations.
BENEFITS PACKAGE:
• Insurance from Workplace Safety Insurance Board covered by employer
• Vacation pay as per provincial regulations will be paid each payday on a semi-monthly basis.
ANTICIPATED START DATE OF EMPLOYMENT: As soon as possible
