Job Description

Serving delicious and appetizing Chinese Cuisine in a fully licensed and air-conditioned family restaurant in Nova Scotia.

 

Language: English

Education: Bachelor or diploma

Hour rate: $27             40 hours/wk

Salary: $56,160/year

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identify and establish relationships with reliable suppliers for various food and beverage items, kitchen equipment, and other supplies needed for the restaurant;
  • Negotiate terms, prices, and delivery schedules with suppliers to secure favorable agreements and cost-effective deals for the restaurant.
  • Place orders for food, beverages, kitchen supplies, and other items based on the restaurant's needs and inventory levels.
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure that the restaurant has an adequate supply of ingredients and materials while minimizing waste and spoilage.
  • Ensure that all purchased items meet the quality standards set by the restaurant. This may involve inspecting deliveries and working with suppliers to resolve any quality issues.
  • Work within budget constraints and cost parameters set by the restaurant management. Seek cost-saving opportunities without compromising on quality
  • Evaluate the performance of suppliers regularly, considering factors such as reliability, quality, and cost-effectiveness. Explore new supplier options when necessary.
  • Analyze and report on purchasing costs, identifying areas for potential cost savings or process improvements.

Employment requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of proven work experience as a purchaser;
  • Good knowledge of vendor sourcing practices (researching, evaluating and liaising with vendors)
  • Good understanding of supply chain procedures;
  • Solid analytical skills, with the ability to create financial reports and conduct cost analyses;
  • Negotiation skills;
  • 3-5 years experience in customer service and expertise in maintenance of customer relationship with other supply-chain work units or departments;
  • Ability to make sound decisions and commitment to integrity and accountability;
  • Good business acumen, financially literate, expertise in rationalization of international trade process
