Duties and Responsibilities:
- Identify and establish relationships with reliable suppliers for various food and beverage items, kitchen equipment, and other supplies needed for the restaurant;
- Negotiate terms, prices, and delivery schedules with suppliers to secure favorable agreements and cost-effective deals for the restaurant.
- Place orders for food, beverages, kitchen supplies, and other items based on the restaurant's needs and inventory levels.
- Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure that the restaurant has an adequate supply of ingredients and materials while minimizing waste and spoilage.
- Ensure that all purchased items meet the quality standards set by the restaurant. This may involve inspecting deliveries and working with suppliers to resolve any quality issues.
- Work within budget constraints and cost parameters set by the restaurant management. Seek cost-saving opportunities without compromising on quality
- Evaluate the performance of suppliers regularly, considering factors such as reliability, quality, and cost-effectiveness. Explore new supplier options when necessary.
- Analyze and report on purchasing costs, identifying areas for potential cost savings or process improvements.
Employment requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of proven work experience as a purchaser;
- Good knowledge of vendor sourcing practices (researching, evaluating and liaising with vendors)
- Good understanding of supply chain procedures;
- Solid analytical skills, with the ability to create financial reports and conduct cost analyses;
- Negotiation skills;
- 3-5 years experience in customer service and expertise in maintenance of customer relationship with other supply-chain work units or departments;
- Ability to make sound decisions and commitment to integrity and accountability;
- Good business acumen, financially literate, expertise in rationalization of international trade process
