Job Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes and foods
Plan menus, determine the size of food portions, estimate food requirements and costs, and monitor
and order supplies
Inspect kitchens and food service areas
Train staff in the preparation, cooking and handling of food
Order supplies and equipment
Supervise kitchen staff and helpers
Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies and equipment
Organize and manage buffets and banquets
Maintain records of stock, repairs, sales and wastage
Ensure food service and quality control
Establish methods to meet work schedules
Train staff in job duties, sanitation and safety procedures
Prepare and submit reports
Supervise and co-ordinate activities of staff who prepare and portion food
Estimate and order ingredients and supplies
