COMPANY SUMMARY: 

Kerrvan Contracting is dedicated to providing formwork and framework services for the construction and development of commercial, residential, and parking structures. We are currently looking for two (2) reliable and efficient carpenters to join our team. This person will join our team to offer support on various construction projects and assignments to ensure that they are executed in a safe and timely manner.

JOB SUMMARY:

We are currently seeking skilled Carpenters to join our team, who will offer support on various construction projects and assignments to ensure that they are executed in a safe and timely manner. They will be responsible for building, installing, repairing and maintaining structures made of wood and other materials on our projects throughout the Lower Mainland. Among the tasks performed on a daily basis are: constructing, fixing, placing, and preserving structures and foundations made of wood or other material, using hand and power tools, ensuring accuracy of project work through surveying tools, reviewing blueprints, and other carpentry tasks as required.  If you are passionate about working with your hands and helping out on various construction projects, we invite you to join our team at Kerrvan Contracting Inc.

 

JOB TITLE: Carpenter

 

NO. OF POSITIONS: 2

 

JOB DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES:

● Measuring, carving, cutting and joining wood and other materials

● Create the framing for floors with wooden beams and joists

● Supervise other construction workers and apprentices within the project when necessary

● Responsible for choosing and sourcing the correct lumber or other materials required for the project

● Determine production costs and ensure that the sourced materials are within budget

● Estimate the overall cost of the project for clients

● Plan each construction, installment or renovation project in accordance to the blueprints

● Review building codes and guarantee that each structure is in accordance to its construction regulations as well as safety and health requirements

● Create construction layouts and imprint the location of the proposed new structures within the interior

● Other related duties as required.

● Build and install trim for doors, windows, stairs and other hardware structures

● Erect walls and roofs, build foundations and wooden forms

● Safely use power and hand tools to build, install, erect or ensure the precision of the assigned project

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:

● Completion of Secondary School

● One year of related experience is an asset

●  Ability to speak, read and write in English

●  Knowledge of the construction business

 

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES:

  • Fast-paced environment, attention to detail, manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
  • Combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching and kneeling
  • Strength and agility are necessary for lifting and climbing

 

ADDITIONAL SKILLS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

● Ability to develop and sustain cooperative working relationships with co-workers, contractors and company management

● Ability to anticipate, troubleshoot and solve problems

● Effective interpersonal skills

● Flexibility and Judgment

● Must be reliable and organized

● Must be available for all hours of operations and shifts including overtime and weekend work as required.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Permanent, Full-time

 

HOURS OF WORK: 40 hours per week

 

WAGES: $ 30.00 per hour

 

OVERTIME: One and one-half times the regular wage rate as per provincial regulations

BENEFITS PACKAGE:

  • Vacation pay as per provincial regulations will be paid each payday on a
    semi-monthly basis

ANTICIPATED START DATE OF EMPLOYMENT: As soon as possible.
