Position: Construction Senior Project Manager specializing in modular construction methodologies (NOC 70010)

Vacancies: 1

Terms of employment: Permanent, Full-time

Salary: $57.69/hour to $60.69/hour, minimum of 40 hours per week (overtime work required)

Work Location: Various Locations in the Lower Mainland.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is required.  A master’s degree or relevant professional certifications/designations, such as the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, would be considered assets.

Work Experience: Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in project management

within the construction industry, with a strong emphasis on modular construction. Must have demonstrated experience in managing large-scale, complex projects from initiation to completion. Must have proven ability to lead and motivate project teams, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented work environment.

Credentials: If completed Bachelor’s in Engineering, then must be registered as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) by a Canadian provincial or territorial association of professional engineers; if complete Bachelor’s in Construction Management, then no credentials are required but a Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is considered an asset. If completed Bachelor’s in a related field, must have any provincially and/or federally mandated certifications/credentials. A valid driver’s license is mandatory as frequent travel between the office and various work sites is required in this position.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

Project Planning & Execution:

  • Lead the planning, execution, and completion of modular construction projects, ensuring alignment with client requirements, industry best practices, and company standards.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope definition, schedules, budgets, risk assessments, and resource allocation.
  • Oversee the procurement of materials and subcontractors, ensuring quality and timely delivery.
  • Direct the purchase of building materials and land acquisitions.
  • Hire and supervise the activities of subcontractors and subordinate staff.
  • Manage project teams, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure effective collaboration and high performance.
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential roadblocks, and implement corrective actions to maintain project timelines and budgets.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and quality standards.
  • Operate CADD and other computer software systems.

Client & Stakeholder Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders.
  • Effectively communicate project updates by preparing and issuing progress reports to clients, addressing concerns, and managing expectations throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Negotiate contracts and change orders, ensuring project profitability and client satisfaction.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify and implement best practices to enhance project efficiency, quality, and safety.
  • Develop and implement quality control programs.

 

Work site environment: Mix of office and on-site (various construction/project sites).

Essential skills:

    • In-depth knowledge of modular construction principles, techniques, and best practices.
    • Strong understanding of project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall) and tools.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
    • Proficient in using project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Additional basic skills: reading text, document use, numeracy, writing, oral communication, leadership, critical thinking, computer use, continuous learning, continuous professional development, people management.
