JOB SUMMARY:
Our firm requires one skilled and experienced Senior Data Administrator to add to our growing team and work on existing and upcoming projects. Our ideal candidate is skilled, adaptable, self-motivated and works well as a part of a team.
JOB TITLE: Senior Data Administrator

JOB DESCRIPTIONS AND DUTIES:
Research related existing metrics, analyze data, and lead partnerships with other Data and Analytics information systems professionals in an effort to identify and implement system and data collection process improvements
Develop and apply reliable data pipelines that translate raw data into powerful features and signals, with the facilitating data administration policy, standards and models
Develop ETL processes that convert data into formats through a team of data analysts and dashboard charts
Research and document data requirements collaboratively with the Data and Analytics teams, gather technical requirements for exceptional data governance, data collection, administration policy, and data access rules and security, across the department and the business at large
Work, mentor, and partner with data analysts, data warehousing engineers, and data scientists for efficient department practices and ensure standard business data requirements are met
Ensure and oversee high-quality and optimal data processing and entry across the department and business at large
Draw performance reports and strategic proposals
Establish guidelines and protocols for utilizing network databases, as well as for safeguarding and restoring data in the event of a data loss or system failure
Oversee, design, and develop algorithms for real-time data processing and create the frameworks that enable quick and efficient data acquisition
Draft scripts related to stored procedures and triggers
Responsible for system architecture design and data engineering activities including data ingestion, data modelling, data processing and data governance
Understand data models and data warehouse concepts
Other related duties as required
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full-time, long-term
HOURS OF WORK: 40 hours per week
WAGES: $40.60
OVERTIME: One and one-half times the regular wage rate as per provincial regulations
BENEFITS PACKAGE:
Insurance from Workplace Safety and Insurance Board covered by employer
Vacation pay as per provincial regulations will be paid each payday on a semi-monthly basis

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:
At least two years of experience as a Data Administrator
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer science or a related technology field is required. An equivalent of this educational requirement in working experience is also acceptable.
Proficient in at least one programming language and scripting languages such as Bash, Python, and Java
Exhibit proficiency in Linux, OS tools, and file-system-level troubleshooting
Exhibit proficiency in building and maintaining reliable and scalable ETL on big data platforms
Extensive experience working with varied forms of data infrastructure inclusive of relational databases such as SQL, Hadoop, Spark and column-oriented databases such as Redshift, MySQL, and Vertica
Good knowledge of dimensional modelling concepts and Data Science principles
Knowledge of machine learning and related AI concepts
Exhibit proficiency in big data infrastructure inclusive of MapReduce, Hive, HDFS, YARN, HBase and a deep knowledge of data mining techniques, relational, and non-relational databases
Experience in large-scale multi-tier cloud applications and environments
Extensive experience with various AWS services (EC2, S3, Athena, Lambda, Kinesis Firehose, Redshift etc.)
Experience with Airflow, EKS, EMR, Kubernetes
Good Hadoop ecosystem knowledge (e.g. Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Hive, Presto)
Experience with CICD tools such as Git Actions and CircleCI
Verbal and written English communication skills
